This Privacy Policy explains how One Percent Mvmnt (“OPM”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses, holds, discloses and protects your personal information when you apply for membership, connect a wearable or app, or otherwise interact with us at onepercentmovement.com.au and our member application at app.onepercentmovement.com.au. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Identity and contact details — your first and last name, email address and mobile number when you apply.
- The wearables, fitness devices and apps you tell us you use.
- Anything you send us directly, such as messages, application responses and support enquiries.
Health and fitness data from services you connect
OPM is built around your training data. When you choose to connect a wearable, fitness device or app, we collect activity and health-related data from that service through our data integration provider (or, for Garmin, directly from Garmin — see Garmin Connect™ data) — for example heart-rate, workout, session, movement and related metrics used to assess whether you meet the OPM standard.
Payment information
Where membership involves payment, card and billing details are collected and processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our systems.
Information we collect automatically
- Technical and usage data such as your device type, browser, IP address, pages viewed and interactions.
- Cookies and similar technologies used to operate the site and understand how it is used.
2. How we use your information
- To review and assess your application for membership.
- To operate the membership, measure your activity against the OPM standard, and confirm whether you qualify for a drop.
- To connect and sync data from the wearables and apps you authorise.
- To issue member apparel and rewards, and to fulfil and communicate about them.
- To process payments and manage your membership.
- To contact you about your application, your standard, your membership and related updates.
- To improve, secure and support our site and services.
- To comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. When we disclose your information
We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it only as needed to run OPM, including to:
- Service providers who help us operate — our data-integration provider (which connects your wearables, other than Garmin — see section 6), payment provider (Stripe), and hosting, email and analytics providers — who are bound to protect your information.
- Wearable and app providers you connect, for the purpose of authorising and syncing your data.
- Authorities or others where required or permitted by law, or to protect our rights, safety or property.
- A successor in the event of a business sale, merger or restructure.
4. Overseas disclosure
Some of our providers (including our data-integration and payment providers) may store or process information outside Australia. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.
5. Managing your connected data
Connecting a wearable or app is always your choice. You can withdraw consent and stop future collection at any time by disconnecting the service from within your member account or by contacting us. Disconnecting does not affect data already collected but you may ask us to delete it (see below).
6. Garmin Connect™ data
If you connect a Garmin device, we receive your data directly from Garmin through the Garmin Connect Developer Program, after you sign in with Garmin Connect™ and approve the data you share. Garmin data does not pass through our data-integration provider.
What we collect from Garmin
- Daily health summaries — heart rate through the day (Garmin’s 15-second readings), resting, minimum and maximum heart rate, steps and distance.
- Activities — activity type and name, start time, duration, average and maximum heart rate, heart rate recorded during the activity, distance, and the model of the Garmin device that recorded it.
- Where you allow it, recent history from before you connected.
- Your Garmin user ID, the data permissions you granted, and the access tokens Garmin issues to keep the connection working.
How we use it
- To identify your training sessions and check them against the OPM standard.
- To show you your heart-rate data, sessions and progress in your member account, labelled with the Garmin device it came from.
- So authorised OPM staff can review your standing, any warnings and your eligibility for drops.
We do not sell Garmin data, use it for advertising or marketing, or use it to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Third parties
Garmin delivers your data only to systems that OPM owns and controls, at app.onepercentmovement.com.au, and it is stored in our own database on a server we manage. We do not share Garmin data with, or have it processed by, any third party — including third-party artificial intelligence or data-processing services, our analytics provider and our data-integration provider — except where the law requires us to. Our Garmin developer credentials are used only by OPM and are never shared.
Storage, security and retention
Garmin data is encrypted in transit, the access tokens Garmin issues are encrypted when stored, and only authorised OPM staff can view member data. We keep it while you are a member so your standing history stays accurate, and you can ask us to delete it at any time (see Your rights).
Disconnecting Garmin
You can disconnect Garmin at any time from your member profile, which tells Garmin to end the connection, or by removing One Percent Movement in the Garmin Connect™ app, which Garmin tells us about. Either way we stop receiving Garmin data straight away. Data already received stays in your account unless you ask us to delete it.
7. Data security and retention
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls and encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We keep your information only for as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, and then de-identify or delete it.
8. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect how the site works.
9. Your rights
You may ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or to delete it where we are able. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or a privacy complaint, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
10. Children
OPM is intended for individuals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its “last updated” date. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
